Benefits of Membership
By Greg Huelsman and Ben Curtis, Membership Chair
The Jaguar Drivers Club, Area 51 was founded in 1983 by local Jaguar enthusiasts with a common interest in owning, maintaining, and driving the world’s most beautiful automobiles. The Jaguar Drivers’ Club of Great Britain http://www.jaguardriver.co.uk/ in response to a request for membership designated the local club as Area 51 of its many areas throughout England and the world.
The purpose of our club is to promote interest in the preservation, operation and ownership of Jaguar automobiles and to encourage the safe, careful and skillful ownership of Jaguar automobiles. We act as a source of technical information, establish rules and regulations governing all activities of the Club, and promote good sportsmanship at all times. Membership is open to owners of Jaguar automobiles and to others interested in furthering the enjoyment of the Jaguar automobile.
JDC51 is now affiliated with the Jaguar Clubs of North America Inc. (JCNA), an organization having more than sixty clubs throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Membership in JDC51 includes a subscription to the Jaguar Journal, the official publication of the JCNA, which is published four times a year.
The club’s newsletter, the CatScan, is published periodically, nominally quarterly, and distributed electronically to all members, JCNA affiliates, and others. The newsletter is produced with articles of local interest, club news and events, and articles by members. Reproduction of articles is welcomed if proper credit is given. Submit materials to the editor by e-mail or mail; text in Word .DOC or .DOCX files and photos in .jpg format preferred. Editor Harold Leggett haroldleggett@gmail.com.
The JCNA website provides members and visitors a premier reference on the Internet to learn about the national club and Jaguar motoring.
Membership dues are $60 per year and include the CatScan, membership in JCNA, subscription to the national Jaguar Journal, eligibility to enter JCNA-sanctioned Concours d’Élégance, and other national and regional events. Applicants may use the membership form in any issue of the CatScan or printed from the JCNA website. Non-JCNA membership with CatScan is $22/ year.
By being a member you can participate in prestigious events such as JCNA-sanctioned Jaguar Concours d’Élégance shows and slaloms, and other exclusive tours and activities. Events are scheduled in advance throughout the year, with each being sponsored and arranged by a member or members.
Monthly meetings are held at area restaurants on the first Wednesday of each month. Meetings begin at 6:00p with drinks and dinner. The business meeting starts at 7:00-7:30p. Regular meetings are held every month except June and December when special meetings are arranged.
In June, the club holds its annual Concours d’Élégance. In December the club holds its Annual Meeting and Christmas luncheon party with election of officers scheduled in December every other year.
